Is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a sequel or remake?
Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is neither a sequel nor a remake. Instead, it is a fresh adaptation of the book by Roald Dahl.
Dahl reportedly did not like the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film, and refused to agree to any other film adaptations in his lifetime.
Roald Dahl passed away in 1990. 15 years later, Warner Bros and Burton adapted the story into the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film.
This 2005 adaptation is more closely associated with the book than the 1971 adaptation.
