Disney’s The Aristocats animated film was released in 1970. However, despite the popularity of characters such as the kitten Marie, there is not a sequel to the film.
According to animation director Tod Carter in an interview with AnimatedViews.com, a sequel to the Aristocats was scheduled to be released in 2008.
While the cats were up against butler Edgar in the first film, the second film was set to focus on a jewel thief on a luxury cruise ship.
According to Carter, Marie was the main focus of the film. We would also meet a new cat who was written as a love interest for Marie.
However, Disney ultimately felt that there wouldn’t be an audience for the film. So, for now at least, we don’t have the Aristocats 2.
