When did Enid Blyton write the Noddy books?
This is a frequently asked question on Google. I thought I’d answer it here!
Enid Blyton’s first noddy book Noddy Goes to Toyland was first published in 1949. In this book, Noddy bumps into Big Ears when he is running away because he is lonely.
In this book, Big Ears convinces the little wooden nodding man to go to Toyland, though Noddy does not consider himself to be a toy.
A total of 25 books were published between 1949 and 1963, including the 1952 book Noddy and Big-Ears.
Enid Blyton’s granddaughter Sophie Smallwood published the book Noddy and the Farmyard Puddle in 2009 to celebrate the character’s 60th anniversary.
The original books were illustrated by Harmsen van der Beek. Robert Tyndall now illustrates the Noddy books.
